Antipyretic

JHK

from Dr JH Kellogg's Hydriatic Techniques...

A treatment lowering body temperature in fever. Includes cold, hot, neutral and friction. The main purpose is to prevent reaction, and maintain skin vasoconstriction. cf Antithermic

A thermic, sedative effect. Decreases heat production while abstracting heat, in fevers.

Develop reaction slowly to prevent over-reaction. The thermic reaction is suppressed by using continuous friction with cold treatments, this prevents the skin temperature sensors from getting too cold. Slight thermic reactions occur but this is useful in Stimulating metabolism needed for recovery.
